A reliable compliance strategy doesn’t stop at maintaining strict drug and alcohol testing protocols; it extends to the hardware sitting in your cab. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is actively auditing the electronic logging ecosystem, and they are pulling non-compliant technology from the market at an unprecedented rate.

In an administrative bulletin released on May 7, 2026, the FMCSA announced the immediate removal of two additional Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) from the approved registry for failing to meet minimum functional and safety specifications.

“Since January 2025, FMCSA has taken decisive action - removing 67 noncompliant devices that failed to meet federal standards - to protect the integrity of the ELD program, and we will continue to identify and remove any device that falls short,” said FMCSA Administrator Derek D. Barrs.

The Revoked Devices:

If your fleet relies on either of the systems listed below, you are now on a strict countdown to replace them.

BEMOREX, INC: Safe ELD (Model: SafeELD-IOS)
Mylogs Inc: MYLOGS ELD (Model: MYLGS2, formerly known as MYLGS)

Mandatory Action Plan for Motor Carriers

The FMCSA mandate is clear. Any motor carrier or driver currently utilizing these devices must immediately take the following actions:

Stop Using the Hardware: Discontinue the use of the Safe ELD and MYLOGS ELD systems. Revert to paper logs or authorized logging software to record your required hours of service (HOS) data.
Replace the Tech Stack: You must procure and install a compliant ELD from the official FMCSA Registered Devices list before the enforcement deadline.

The Enforcement Deadline

Safety officials have been instructed to grant a temporary grace period to allow carriers time to adapt. During this window, drivers using the revoked devices will not be cited, provided they can present paper logs or use the revoked ELD display as a backup method.

However, enforcement changes drastically on July 7, 2026.

Motor carriers continuing to use these revoked devices past this date will be legally considered as operating without an ELD. Drivers caught using Safe ELD or MYLOGS ELD on or after July 7 will be cited for 395.8(a)(1) (“No record of duty status”) and will be placed out-of-service (OOS).

An out-of-service order stops your truck, stalls your load, and severely impacts your safety rating. Audit your hardware today and make the necessary replacements before the deadline expires.
